About terra
Terra is a personal desktop workstation on the University of Utah
campus. It is used for general computing, software development, and
geophysics research (hence the name). The hardware is as follows:
- 2x Athlon MP (Palomino core) 1.2GHz CPUs, plugged into a
- Tyan Thunder K7 motherboard, with
- 1024MB PC2100 DDR Registered ECC SDRAM,
- 9 GB Ultra160 SCSI-3 disk,
- 2x 50 GB U160 SCSI-3 disks,
- Sapphire Tech. Radeon 7500 video card w/64 MB RAM.
- ATI Rage on-board video, and
- Dual 19" Sony flat CRT monitors
Terra currently runs Debian 3.0/testing with some additional local software.
The web server is Apache from the Debian distribution. Most development
is done in Java, Python, and C.
Use of terra is restricted to authorized users only! Authorization
for use is automatically granted. Web page requests may be logged.
